Manually Resetting a Modem

To prevent future problems with your DSL connection you MUST update the password that you use to log in to the AT&T network.

Your password location will depend on the type of modem that you use and your computer's operating system.

  1. If you connect using a SpeedStream 5100B or 4100 modem (5 light modem) your password is stored on the modem. For instructions on how to update your modem, please select How to update PPPoE password in SpeedStream 4100/5100B Modems (5 light modem only).
  2. If you connect using a 2Wire Router, your password is stored on the modem. For instructions on how to update your 2Wire Router, please select How to update PPPoE password in 2Wire Home Portal.
  3. If you connect with any other type of modem, your password will be stored on your computer.
  • If your computer operating system is Windows XP or Windows Vista, your password will be stored in your broadband connection configuration. For instructions on how to update your Windows broadband connection, please select How to update PPPoE password for Windows XP
  • For all other PC and Macintosh operating systems, your password will be stored in your Enternet 300 configuration. For instructions on how to update your Enternet 300 configuration, please select How to update PPPoE password in Enternet 300, for Windows or Mac
  • Note: Your AT&T password will always apply to your entire AT&T account. This means that it will be valid not only for AT&T Mail, but also for AT&T Messenger, My AT&T, AT&T Finance, and all of AT&T's personalized services.
